Kevin Bailey, President, Vans says “Together, we have continued the Pro-tec® brand’s leadership role in skateboard and BMX protective gear, while expanding the brand’s position in snow sports and mountain biking.
The Vans® and Pro-tec® brands share a complementary action sports heritage,” he continued. “But we believe that Dye Precision can provide Pro-tec® a better operational fit and focus, which will allow the brand to thrive and reach its full potential.”
Hot on the heals of Dye launching Dye Snow is the announcement from the California based arm of Dye that they have come to an agreement with Vans to purchase Pro-Tec, a company that makes high quality helmets for street and water sports and protective padding for biking, skating and snowboarding.
Dave Dehaan (aka Dave Youngblood) continued “We have made a strong impact in the snow and paintball industry, and the acquisition of the Pro-tec® brand accelerates our planned expansion into skateboarding, BMX, snow protective, and mountain biking."
Dye's push to expand further more extreme sport's markets could be a win-win situation for paintball and the Dye brand. Vans will continue to sell Pro-Tec through it's network of 300 Vans stores and the possibilities for future cross-over events and easier marketing for Dye Paintball to other extreme sport's lovers seem to be promising with this new aquisition.
